First day of the Nursing term

Hello! Today is officially the first week of my nursing core, however, my class does not start until tomorrow (Tuesday). So in the mean time, I am catching up on my reading and looking at the courses outline, assignments for this term and reading up on the syllabus. So far I can say that there are going to be lots of assign reading from both the original textbook and the ATI textbook. To get myself ahead I manage to read the assign chapters for lab since lab will be my first course for tomorrow. the textbook is not too bad. Lots of good information to set the foundation of nursing. It also contain lots of good advices and tips when doing a phone call to another office, transferring a patient to a different unit and tips on documentation. I really enjoy it which I found surprising since textbook tends to bored me out really fast. Overall I am excited, yet it does feel a bit overwhelming with the amount of assign reading we have to do before the week is over and this does not even include homework and assignments. I just hope to find a good study habit and a good system on taking notes since I am not entirely sure how the professors will make their quizzes and tests.

Anyways, I will update once I get farther into the week. As of now please enjoy this humor comic to get us going into our terms/semester. 😜

Ever since the diagnosis of me possibly having parotid cancer that’s may have metastasized to my cervical lymph nodes brought me much anxiety and fear. I still wanted to deny the fact that there must have been a mistake and that this is probably just a benign tumor x 2. But the more I gone back to reread the diagnostic imaging that was done to confirm such diagnosis – I began to question ‘why me’? I was in my second year of nursing school and was set to graduate next year in October. My life was barely starting and now this. My fears begin to eat me away. I wanted to cry. I wanted to scream. Exhaustion

It has only been the second day of nursing classes and I am already tired and exhausted. Today I will have night class until 10 pm and then travel 20-30 minutes to get home. I am tired from staring at my textbook and the computer screen to complete my assignment. I wonder if this is the exhaustion and tiredness that nursing students commented about. I wonder if it will get worst. There is so much information to learn and I wonder if I will be able to retain everything and remember everything. It is overwhelming with much to do but little time for anything. The only break so far that I have to myself is taking time to eat other than that there is no time for me to take a glance at my phone nor watch a drama I had started. Well we will see how this weekend plays out.

New update

So it has been a while since I last update. It has been a hacked months with learning about my new diagnosis and treatment plan. After surgery, I was inform that the tumor was indeed malignant (cancer) and not just that but a rare type of cancer call lymphoepithelial carcinoma of the parotid gland. I was devastated and I felt like my whole world was turn upside down. I was hoping that the tumor was benign and I can move on with my life after the surgery. However, to my dismay I was diagnosis with cancer. I would lie if I said that I took the news with great optimistic, but it was nothing like that. For the next couple of days while I was waiting for my oncology appointment for a follow up and to go over the next step in my treatment, I felt hopeless and defeated. I felt like crying as my diagnosis eats me little by little until I felt like I have no energy left in me.
