Introduction
So, it has been many years since I last
blog. I think it would be a great idea to blog about my nursing journey that I will
be starting in January. It has been a long while trying to finish my nursing degree.
I started college right after I finish high school back in 2009. I went straight
into college working on my prerequisites for my nursing core, however, the one
thing that I wish I knew was to never expect college to be the same as high
school. While in high school I did good in all my classes, so when I enter my first-year
college course, everything was different. Lectures, notes and testing taking
left me baffled. The transition was a struggle for me. As the first semester
came to an end, I did average, however, it wasn’t what I wanted. So, when
second semester came around with even more challenging courses and classes I started
to second guess if nursing was what I really wanted to do. I was lost. Unable to
decide if I should to switch a different career path.
So, I did switch. I went ahead and
got my medical assistant. Even though I have no regret in getting my medical
assistant certificate, I believe if I had stick it out with nursing I would
have been much happier instead of setting down for something lesser than what I
wanted. After graduating from my medical assistant classes I got hired at a
cardiac clinic in which I love and found my passion in wanting to become a
cardiac nurse in the future. I was determined to go back to finish my nursing
school and here I am after a year leaving the job I loved to make my dream job become
a reality.
In January
I would be starting my nursing core class along with my clinical. I still cannot
believe that this is all happening. It felt surreal when I open the box of my
university nursing uniforms, ATI books, and my duffle bag of clinical necessities
that are to be used throughout my nursing core. But I am grateful and happy. Now
all I have to worry about is making sure I do not fall behind and pass all my
classes.
Thank you for reading my
introduction to my nursing journey and I hope that you will enjoy it as much as I do writing about it. If you are in the same boat trying to get through your nursing courses or clinical, lets share the ride together. Lets all experience the hardship and scarifies that will be worth it at the end. Stay strong this is just the start.
